Iconeek is proud to introduce here an attractive 1940s Universal Geneve Tri-Compax, Ref. 22502, in Enversteel. The model is a fine mechanical, manual winding, column-wheel chronograph wristwatch with day, date, month and moon phase indications. The Tri-compax was launched in 1944 to commemorate the brand’s 50th Anniversary. The model is still one of the most complicated chronograph they ever produced. - Nicknamed “Glorioso” to pay homage to the level of complexity, the model soon became the flagship of the brand. Since its creation, the model has gained an icon status.
The model, Ref. 22502, presented here, comes with a three-body construction: a snap on inclined steel bezel bearing the plexiglass crystal, a tonneau-shaped enversteel case with downturned lugs and rectangular chronograph pushers and correctors in the bands, a snap on case back engraved with the reference and case numbers. Under the plexi, we find a silvered dial, patinated with time, with painted luminous Arabic numerals, luminous blued steel Lozange hands, outer minute and 1/5th seconds track with radial Arabic 5-minute/second numerals, an outermost blue tachymeter scale, four subsidiary dials for the constant second at 9, the 12-hour register at 6, the 30-minute register at 3, the date and moon phase at 12, two apertures for the day at 10 and for the month at 2. The model is powered by a caliber 287, frosted gilt, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance with timing screws, self-compensating blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, column-wheel mechanism for the chronograph. Dial, case and movement are signed.
With its almost 37 mm. diameter, the model is still great watch to wear.
Condition: 7.5/10, in very fair and original overall condition, the dial has naturally patinated with time, some light scratches and miss of lacquer on the edge, the case has deep engraving on the back, movement ticking and in very good overall condition
