ROLEX, DAY-DATE, TRIDOR, REF. 18039, THREE COLOR GOLD, & DIAMOND-SET JUBILEE DIAL
ICONEEK price: 14’500.- CHF
Under Ref. 18039B, Iconeek is proud to introduce here a rare and unusual version of the iconic Day-Date. In the mid Eighties the Day-Date line introduces the « Tridor » version. One single model combining three gold colors: a yellow gold fluted bezel, a water-resistant white gold tonneau-shaped Oyster case and a President bracelet with fused yellow, white and pink gold centre links, and a self-winding movement. “Tridor” is Rolex’s trade-mark for their system of molecularly bonding three colors of gold in stripes for use in bracelets.
The watch is fitted with the correct Twinlock 6 mm white gold « 2 dots » winding crown. The case back is engraved inside 18000. This watch bears two reference numbers, 18000 which is the base reference number and 18039B, between the lugs, which corresponds to the exact characteristics of this watch within the series. Reference 18039B was only produced for three years from 1985-1988. The slate “Jubilee” dial was available at the additional cost of Sfr 1,600 in 1986.
The calibre 3055 movement, powering Day-Dates from 1977 to 1988, is characterized by the single quick-set date function, which allows a rapid date adjustment. Caliber Rolex 3055 is certified chronometer and is rhodium-plated, with oeil-de-perdrix decoration, 27 jewels, adjusted to 5 positions temperature, straight-line lever escapement, shock absorber, self-compensating Breguet balance spring, 4-arm balance with Microstella screws, hack mechanism. Under the sapphire crystal with cyclops lens, we find a superb and attractive silver Jubilee, grey color dial, with Rolex decoration, with applied diamond indexes, luminous gold Baton hands, sweep center second, aperture for the day of the week in English at 12, and for the date at 3, outer minute and second division with 5-minute luminous dots. Dial, case and movement are signed. The size between the lugs is 20 mm.
