OMEGA, PRE-SERIES PROTOTYPE WRISTWATCH, NO. 15

ICONEEK price: contact  us.

Iconeek is proud to introduce here a highly unusual, probably unique, pre-series prototype stainless steel automatic chronograph wristwatch by Omega. The Heritage Department of Omega confirms that the present number 15, is probably a pre-series prototype. However, being an early prototype it is not registered in firm's Archives and consequently no Extract from the Archives will be issued.

In common with other known prototypes, the present watch is marked by the hand engraving of number “15” near the balance as well as underneath the upper left lug - a way for OMEGA to identify pre-series products at the time. Interestingly, whilst the movement is visually identifiable as calibre 1040, the caliber number is not stamped on the movement in the usual way.

Trained eyes will recognized that the present watch has  a very similar look to the  Seamaster Ref. 176.001, with  caliber 1040, (see picture) however we  can notice several differences, such as: the dial is only signed « Omega », and does not bear the words « Automatic » and « Seamaster »,  the applied steel Baton indexes  are long and  thin, whereas in the  current production, they were large and  rectangular, the chronograph hands  are in  orange color and baton shaped, matching  the number 45  in red (in a  circle)  at 9 on  the dial, the movement does not bear any serial number, as well as the  case back is not engraved with a reference.  As a prototype, this watch is extremely rare. The case is unsigned without any reference, logo  or  material “acier inoxydable” stamped inside the back, all features underlining the watch’s prototype status.

A rare opportunity to get a special watch !
