The present Breguet, collection Classique, Grande Reserve, is a very fine and elegant self-winding, 18K white gold wristwatch with "regulator dial", power reserve indicator and date. Ref. 3680 was available in yellow, pink and white gold. At the time, the white gold version was the most expensive.
The round 36 mm, water-resistant to 30 m., white gold case is fitted with a coin-edged band, straight lugs with gold screwed bars, corrector on the band and a sapphire crystal, a snap on rounded bezel and snap on case back with engraved presentation inscription. The black leather strap has a matching 18K white gold Breguet deployant clasp.
The dial is made of pure gold, hand guilloché, two tone silvered, with off-center brushed silver Roman chapter ring, a sector for the 38 hours power reserve indication, outer circle for the date, blued steel Breguet hands and blued steel Serpentine hand for the date.
The watch is powered by a Cal. 591DR, rhodium-plated, with fausses cotes decoration, 23 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance, shock absorber, self-compensating flat balance spring, gold rotor.
Dial, case and movement signed.
H.R.H Prince of Wales ( born in 1948) got the same model in yellow gold engraved « in commemoration of your 60th birthday », for its 60th birthday, in 2008, see picture on the right.
Trained eyes will notice that the blued steel date hand has a particular snake-shape so called "Serpentine" hand by collectors. The retail price in 2008 was approx: 22’300 Euros for the white gold version, such as the present watch, 22’000 Euros for the pink and 21’600 for the yellow versions.
Condition: 9/10, in very good overall condition, fully serviced at Breguet workshop in march 2009
